Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), English novelist and critic, founder of the Bloomsbury Group of writers, is born today, January 25. She was the daughter of Sir Leslie Stephen, sister of artist Vanessa Stephen Bell, and wife of author and social reformer Leonard Woolf.
