» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - The "Thinking" Poll

Since this topic is dedicated to reason and logic, I must take exception with the seven people who have ranked President George W. Bush as a "non-thinker."

Are these respondents actually saying that George W. Bush never thinks?

Or is this just another example of taking an opportunity to reduce political debate to a bathroom graffiti contest?

I can understand people ranking him as "below average." I myself put him at "average." But, a NON-thinker?

Come on!

Brian,

While I can see your point I am defining 'thinking' as "A way of reasoning". Maybe the people who answered the way they did feel that he 'reacts' not actually uses reasoning. Since this is a free country they are able to say that what they feel about it. Imagine doing this poll in other countries. Just a thought 'and I mean a logical well thought out one' happy

I hear what you're saying, but I don't buy it. My three-year old son reasons. Obviously, it's limited and not very sophisticated. :-) But he does reason things out. There's a toy on top of the refrigerator. I want the toy. I am not tall enough to get it. Wait. I'll get a chair. I need to take one of the chairs in the dining room and push it across the kitchen floor to the refrigerator. Then, I can climb on it. And so on...

Yes, it's limited reasoning, but it's reasoning. George W. Bush is no deep-thinker and probably has some holes in his reasoning. I definitely see some naivete and short-range thinking at play there. But it's a gross exaggeration to say the man is a "non-thinker." That he doesn't reason.

What do YOU think?
