.
I enjoyed short your short but informative paper.
.
When I was a young boy I attended third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades in a one room country school in the South Western Michigan. We learned a little about Abraham Lincoln--mostly that he was an honest boy who grew to be an honest man. I always had the idea that he had lived just down the road from where we lived.

If you have the time you should visit the Lincoln Museum. It is a great experience. Part of what you get to learn there deals with the turmoil in Lincoln's political life. There is a room there that is called something like "room of whispers" and it is a collection of all the negative hurtful comments that Lincoln and Mary Todd had to deal with. Things like "Can you believe the dress she is wearing". It really shows you that even though we remember him as great, he had to deal with rumors and personal attacks just like politicians do today.

Good suggestion.

I pulled the driving directions from Map-Quest. It's a little over 5 hours from my home with Chicago the overnight stay over. I'll take the opportunity to visit my 96 yr old distant cousin in one of the suburbs of Chi-town. She did the work and recorded the ancestry of my mother's paternal side. We've been on the continent since 1710. That ancestry has done more to interest me in the study of American history than anything else. I owe that little lady a great deal.
We might pull this visit to the Lincoln Library off this fall.
.
Thanks. I'll be sure to let you know if we get to go.
