» RLSharp - Socrates truth vs. fiction

How can we separate the truth of Socrates from the fiction? The stories from Plato (the Symposium in particular) make for a terrific character in Socrates, but he seems almost mythic. What kind of person rarely drinks but can then outdrink everyon else? What kind of person can stand barefoot in the snow all night contemplating some idea? Plato preaches truth, but is it possible he stretched it a bit with the character of Socrates?

Hello: I could ask the same about Jesus Christ. All we have is a collection of stories about him. Yet, millions and millions of people honestly "believe" those stories...just click around this site in Mind and Soul a bit to see what I'm referring to...
